Becoming a Governor

Governors are elected, appointed or co-opted for a period of four years. This time period is called their ‘term of office’. Vacancies usually occur at the end of a term of office. Occasionally, vacancies may arise due to the early resignation of a governor.

THE ROLES HELD BY OUR GOVERNORS INCLUDE:

Parent Governor

These vacancies will be advertised on the college website.  Once nominations have been received, there will be an election at which all parents/carers of students at the college are eligible to vote.  The successful candidate will be announced in various college publications.

Staff Governor

These vacancies will be announced at appropriate staff meetings.  Once nominations have been received, there will be an election at which all staff at the college are eligible to vote.   The successful candidate will be announced to the staff.

Trust Governors

Our governing body has eleven Trust appointed governors who provide specific skills or experience that the governing body decides are needed. Vacancies will be advertised in such a way as to make clear the skill set, experience or viewpoint that is sought. Expressions of interest are welcome at any time by contacting the Head of Corporate Governance and Compliance at BDAT.
