Primary School Visits
Idle C.O.E Primary School
We took a group of our students to volunteer teaching French to years 3-6. A few of them were nervous at first, but they applied their French knowledge to support the pupils and play different French games with them. All of them demonstrated a very strong PCH ethos.
They absolutely did Immanuel College proud and this was further enhanced when so many year 6s came in for Open Evening and recognised our students from earlier that day.
MFL Greengates Primary
7 Students from Years 9 and 10 had the privilege to visit Greengates Primary School for an exciting Spanish workshop. The aim was to introduce the younger children to some Christmas-themed Spanish vocabulary, while giving the Immanuel students a chance to develop their leadership and teaching skills.
They started by working through festive-themed worksheets. The older students were fantastic, helping the primary children with pronunciation, translations, and completing the activities.
After the worksheets, the real fun began. Our students led a series of Spanish games designed to reinforce the vocabulary in a playful way. The primary children were enthusiastic and engaged, clearly enjoying the chance to learn through interactive activities. It was heartwarming to see the older students step up as leaders, explaining the games and encouraging the younger ones to participate.
The session was a great success, with both groups of students leaving the room beaming. It was a wonderful opportunity to bridge the gap between primary and secondary education and to celebrate the festive season with a shared love for learning.
