Paris Drama Convention 2025

Wow! What an amazing trip our students had at the end of January.
The Drama department took 36 students from Year 9 to Year 13 for the inaugural GCSE Drama Convention organised by Voyager.
The trip consisted of 3 jam packed days! The first was a full day of Drama workshops exploring devising techniques, how to interpret a text and how to approach the written exam and live theatre evaluation. The students worked with practitioners in the field and were provided with some excellent tips, tricks and advice to aid them through their GCSE Drama qualification and beyond. They also had the opportunity to visit a local restaurant for lunch and they participated in a talent show in the evening alongside students from the other school.
Our second day took us to Disneyland Paris! Students had time to explore both parks whilst also being given the best seats in the house to a live performance of Lion King in which students could apply some of the techniques, they had been taught the previous day, to analyse the performance. Students were also treated to an evening performance including music, a light show, lasers and fireworks. A fantastic ending to a truly magical day!
Our final day gave us the opportunity to explore the sights of Paris and take in some of the Parisien culture. Students started the day by exploring the largest open air market in Paris before heading to the Eiffel Tower for lunch. Just as the rain hit, students boarded a river cruise and sailed down the River Seine. Following the River Cruise, students had the opportunity to stroll down the Champs Elysee and experience a nail biting drive around the Arc de Triomphe! We rounded the day off with a quick dash up the steps to take in the views outside the beautiful Sacre Coeur! Despite the rain, the students remained in high spirits and truly embraced what Paris had to offer.
The 36 students had a fantastic time and were excellent representatives for the school with the workshop leaders, bus company and accommodation staff commenting on how polite they were and how impeccably behaved they were.
We look forward to where the Drama world takes us next!!
