Post-16 Students Trained as Youth Literacy Champions

We were delighted to welcome Amy from the National Literacy Trust in Bradford into school to deliver training for fifteen of our Post-16 students, who are now officially Youth Literacy Champions.

During the session, students explored the importance of promoting literacy within school and the wider community, developing ideas and practical strategies to inspire a love of reading among their peers. From peer reading initiatives to creative competitions and awareness campaigns, our newly trained Champions are already full of enthusiasm and fresh ideas.

We are excited to see the impact of their work as they begin leading projects to promote literacy across school and within the local community.

Christmas Poetry Competition

In the run up to Christmas, our Post-16 Literacy Ambassadors and our school librarian, Miss Crompton, ran a Christmas Poetry competition for all students to submit their Christmas themed poems.

Judging took place the final week of term and we are happy to announce and congratulate Ivy T (9AMA), Poppy C (8NHA) and Neave C (7ANJ) on having the winning poems in our competition.

There were some really fantastic entries that all who entered should be proud of!
