Physical Education Intent

At Immanuel College we believe that Physical Education has a vital role to play in developing students spiritually, socially, emotionally and intellectually⁷.

Physical Education teaches students so much more than simply how to play a variety of sports, through perseverance it develops skills such as leadership, communication, co-operation, independence, respect, fairness and acceptance of responsibility; developing the character and skills that are needed in order to thrive in modern life⁶. We believe that all students should leave Immanuel College with a positive attitude towards physical activity and the motivation to lead a healthy and active lifestyle. Our curriculum provides hope that we inspire the next generation of gym-goers, amateur football players, netball payers and cyclists and enable them to understand the benefits of leading such a lifestyle and the effect it can have on a person’s physical, social and mental health⁹.
